Make your own brown hare with this needle felting kit!
Make a felted brown hare that stands approximately 5 to 6 inches tall. Learn how to create the basic body shape, add the fur and learn how to wrap a pipe cleaner with wool roving to make the legs and paws.
What's included in your kit:
The hare kit contains core wool to make the body
Two different shades of brown for the fur and a pinch of white for the tail
3 pipe cleaners
2 felting needles in a 38 regular triangle guage
2 x plastic push in eyes
A downloadable PDF full colour instructional booklet (can be found in the Kit Downloads tab on main menu. A code will be supplied with your kit so you can access it for free)
The downloadable PDF full colour instruction booklet contains lots of photos and written instructions, and guides you step by step through the process of building up the basic shape with the core wool, adding the top coat and making legs and feet by wrapping the pipe cleaners in wool. As you continue through the project, all the pieces will come together to make your very own cute little hare that you can pop on display in your home, or gift to someone who loves hares!
PLEASE NOTE: I do not supply a felting base with this kit, you can purchase a reusable hessian sack separately.
Who is the needle felting kit suitable for?
Suitable for complete beginners and those who are crafters already and who want to learn to needle felt or lovers of British wildlife who want to combine their love of nature with a practical skill.
Complete beginners make these hares in my workshops and are always delighted with what they have made. Each one has it's own character and because they are all individually made, they are all unique and original which is what makes them so much fun to make. (It also makes it quite an addictive past time and once you have the basic skills you can make whatever you conjure up in your imagination, or take inspiration from nature)
Are there any special requirements?
Good eye sight and somewhere comfortable to work is beneficial. A cup of tea also helps somewhat.
Children aged 11+ can needle felt with supervision from an adult due to the nature of the barbed needles being quite sore should you accidentially poke your finger with one.
How long will it take to make?
Allow around 3 to 4 hours to make your hare.
If you enjoy making this one why not try one of my other needle felting kits?

I endeavour to make my needle felting kits and postal packaging as environmentally friendly as possible so please note the following:
I do not supply a foam felting base to work on. After a few uses they break up and get stuck to your work resulting in them being thrown in the bin. Instead, I use and sell hessian rice sacks which can be re used many times and then recycled. You need only purchase one of them and then any additional needle felting you do can be done on the same rice sack.
You buy the empty sack, fill it with rice and sew up the opening. The rice can be re used in a different sack and the old hessian will compost down in the compost heap.
Spare wool will be made good use of by the birds at spring time or you can compost down in the compost heap.
The instructional booklet is a downloadable PDF file.
